What we do
The Berhanu Soccer Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization* aimed at improving the future of young, local athletes. Our mission is to provide financial help for boys and girls who love soccer, have talent for the game and who wish to develop their talent to its full potential. Berhanu Soccer Foundation provides financial support in the form of a grant made to the qualifying boy or girl’s soccer club/team in the Washington DC/ Baltimore metro area.
The Foundation awarded its first five grants in the spring of 2005. By the beginning of the fall season, the Foundation had awarded 13 more grants. Our goal for the upcoming 2006 fall season is to provide grants for at least 25 athletes. Based on the number of applications coming in, we know that need exists.
The Berhanu Soccer Fund has been established by family and friends of Berhanu Ageze. Everyone involved in the Berhanu Soccer Foundation donates their time to this cause, drawing no salary of any kind. Participation in the running and funding of the Fund is sought from all who share the Fund’s underlying vision.
