The
Berhanu Soccer Foundation operates under the auspices of The
Community Foundation for the National Capital Region (Community
Foundation). The Berhanu Foundation works with and through
established soccer clubs and teams and not directly with individual
potential candidates for funding. The clubs and teams will have
prime responsibility for identifying and recommending qualified
candidates to be considered by BSF for funding.
The Berhanu Soccer Foundation selection committee evaluates
(according to a set procedure) all applications from clubs and teams
and pass its recommendations on to the full board. Award /
grant monies from the Foundation will be made directly to a
Fund-approved boy / girl’s soccer club / team.
All activities associated with the identification (and initial
selection) of qualified candidates is the responsibility of the
soccer club/ team. The club/ team will also be responsible to the
Foundation for vouchsafing that grants provided by the Fund are
directly and solely used to pay for/ reduce club fees owing by the
Foundation-approved player.
In addition to their role in candidate identification, clubs and/ or
teams working with the Berhanu Soccer Foundation will be expected to
assist in promotional activities on behalf of the Fund, including
fund-raising. All boys and girls awardees/ beneficiaries of the
Berhanu Soccer Foundation will be expected to act as good-will
ambassadors of the program, especially by way of their behavior on
and off the field.
